Welcome to the Adams Robotics Team 1340 website!
Welcome to our website. This is the one-stop-spot everything robotics. The page is updated at least once a week with enticing dishes of brain food. Be sure to add us to your favorites.
The three most important things to keep in mind:
- Gracious Professionalism. This term is coined by Woodie Flowers of MIT. This is our motto at FIRST. Your GP is defined by how well you work with others on or off your team. Gracious Professionalism is in other words sportsmanship at its finest. There are points awarded for Gracious Professionalism during the competitions.
- Safety FIRST. Robots are heavy objects and can cause a lot of damage if used the wrong way. When working on a robot you must ALWAYS wear safety goggles. The competition is about having fun and you can not have fun if your injured.
- Have FUN!. The aim of the FIRST robotics competition is to have fun while doing something productive for you and for your environment. One of the side effects of being on a FIRST robotics team is addiction. Yes. Addiction. Once you come you have so much fun you come back every year for another shot. It is not like any other sporting event. Robotics is a sporting event. The difference between this sport and the others is that you are REALLY using you brain, everybody's invited, its free, and everybody WINS!
"You have teenagers thinking they're going to make millions as NBA stars when that's not realistic for even 1 percent of them. Becoming a scientist or engineer is." -Segway inventor Dean Kamen [Founder of FIRST]
